At the time, he was a staff writer in Tin Pan Alley, and later moved to the infamous Brill building where he was to meet his long time collaborator, Hal David. The two of them went on to composed some of the most memorable and beautiful songs that have ever been penned. This book, unbelievably the first ever on Bacharach, covers all periods of his life, including his earliest years in his town of birth, Kansas City, his move to New York, his years as a struggling writer and that fateful meeting with Hal David. It moves on to cover in full his most creative period working with David and his leaner years during the 70s.
