On the inside cover of Keith Richards’ recent autobiography, Life, title spines of records from the author’s collection are on proud view. Revealing a selection as exquisite as it is eclectic, Keith’s blues favourites rub up against Bob Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisited, his Jazz heroes are present alongside soul music’s very finest, and tatty early reggae LPs share his shelves with a smattering of Rolling Stone releases. His beloved R’n’B, Rock n’ Roll and Country are not conspicuous by their absence.
This CD features 27 tracks from Keith Richards’ enormous music collection and musical education – only a tiny part of which is showing in the aforementioned picture. Featuring favourite cuts from his heroes across genres the Human Riff treasures most, this enthralling compilation takes us a little closer to understanding how the skinny kid from Dartford became rock n’ roll’s most iconic ambassador and remains the true epitome of its spirit.
