Monster Magnet - The Lowdown

Monster Magnet - The Lowdown

While the rest of the music loving world was apparently enthralled by the Grunge phenomenon emanating from Seattle in the early 1990s, a group of maverick reprobates from New Jersey were experimenting with a dark, psychedelic space rock, the fruits of which identified them as true originators. Monster Magnet went on to achieve massive critical acclaim with their first two releases before breakthrough album ‘Dopes To Infinity’ made them a name to drop in all relevant circles. In the years since their quite extraordinary introduction to the heavy rock community, the band’s sound - and line up - has continued to evolve across a string of classic records and massive world tours, a process that could well have reached a conclusion when singer Dave Wyndorf was hospitalised after a drugs overdose in 2006. But with new material once more delighting their legions of fans, this strange collective look set to take the globe by storm all over again.
This two CD set celebrates Monster Magnet’s amazing career to date with, on disc one, a set of interviews with frontman Dave Wyndorf and guitarist Ed Mundell. These recordings, from various periods over the last two decades, include frank discussions on a whole range of subjects from addictions to side projects. Disc two features an audio biography of the band, telling their complete story as it has never been heard before. Completed with deluxe slipcase packaging including rare photography throughout, booklets, poster and much more, this limited edition set is destined to become a top drawer collector’s item.
The Interview CD contains over an hour of interviews with Monster Magnet’s two longest serving members, Dave Wyndorf and Ed Mundell. In what proves to be an eye opening account, they talk openly about a range of issues from their influences and inspirations, the impact of drugs on their career and music, to what it means to be a punk in today’s music industry. These recordings offer a valuable insight into the inner workings of one of the greatest rock bands of the last quarter cent
