It’s almost 40 years since Patti Smith, the world’s first true punk icon, formed The Patti Smith Group and got to work writing and recording her 1975 debut, Horses. And there began one of the most unusual careers in all of rock ‘n’ roll. For the first time here was a woman who would do exactly as she wanted, look the way she pleased and survive the pressures of the industry without the aid of the usual crutches such as drink and drugs.
And all these years on Patti is still making remarkable music, remains a respected and relevant performer and commentator and above all else, has never changed her agenda in doing exactly as she pleases and what she believes to be right.
This 2 Disc set is a celebration of Patti’s longevity and career and includes a DVD documentary film telling her story and taking the cameras behind the scenes, plus a CD interview disc on which the woman herself waxes lyrical on just about everything she feels strongly about.
Completed in a slipcase with inner booklets, this package is a fitting tribute to one of music’s true pioneers.
